Atlânticoline is taking a decisive step in the modernisation of its services with the launch, this week, of a new ticketing and boarding system. The initiative results from a strategic partnership with the Finnish company Carus, a global leader in technological solutions for the maritime sector, and reinforces the operator’s commitment to regional mobility, sustainable tourism and the continuous improvement of the passenger experience in the Azores.
In the Region, ferries constitute an essential link for residents and visitors. With this modernisation, Atlânticoline aims to simplify ticket purchases, reduce queues at passenger terminals and introduce new digital solutions that place journey management directly in the hands of the passenger.
Among the main innovations is the possibility of autonomous online journey management, allowing passengers to amend bookings without the need to visit ticket offices. The implementation of the new system will subsequently be complemented by the launch of a new website, more intuitive and user-oriented, as well as a new mobile application.
According to Ricardo Batista, Executive Board Member of Atlânticoline, “this project enables us to take a decisive step in modernising our operation, offering passengers a simpler, more efficient and transparent travel experience.”
John Bertell, Sales Director at Carus, stated that “it is a privilege to work with Atlânticoline. As islanders ourselves, we fully understand the importance of reliable transport services for communities that depend on them on a daily basis.”
The transition between sales systems is a technically demanding process, and some temporary constraints may occur in ticket sales and operational procedures. Atlânticoline thanks passengers in advance for their understanding during this initial implementation phase.
Main Benefits for Passengers:
- Mobile application for ticket management;
- Booking amendments without the need to attend ticket offices;
- Faster and more secure digital tickets;
- Digital payments with automatic ticket issuance;
- Enhanced robustness and security of the sales and reservation system.
